Program Description

This program will provide an immersive, global learning environment for students to study topics related to food supply, agriculture, the environment, and health in Cuba, looking at the differences in food supplies and systems and how they impact nutrition.

Program Highlights
  • Guest lectures
  • Guided tour and lunch at Organoponico Alamar
  • Visit to the National Botanical Garden of Cuba and lunch at eco-restaurant El Bambu
  • Visit to agro-markets, bodegas, and supermarkets in the Vedado neighborhood
  • Tour of organic farm Finca Tungasuk in Artemisa, Cuba
  • Visit with local students researching Cuban health/diet
  • Overnight excursion to Las Terrazas and Vinales
  • Four-night excursion to La Picadora and Santa Clara
  • Day trip to Playa Giron (Bay of Pigs)
  • Walking tours and museums, such as the Museum of the Revolution
  • Salsa lesson
