Dates: August 22, 2020 – September 7, 2020 (in Japan). Course starts at PCC prior to dates in country.

Location: Kyoto, Japan

Course: JPN 103 First Year Japanese (or JPN 212C Intermediate Japanese Conversation)

Credits: 5 (or 1 credit for JPN 212C)

Prerequisites: JPN 102 or instructor permission

Program Type: Capstone (culminating project or experience that supports the learning outcomes of a term course taken at PCC)

Program Description

Delve deep into Japanese culture and study Japanese language in an immersive context as you explore Kyoto as part of this capstone. The former capital city is lined with ancient palaces, traditional teahouses, and peaceful Zen gardens where you can ponder which amazing noodle house to enjoy an unforgettable bowl of ramen.

Program Highlights:
  • Participate in a Kyoto scavenger hunt, giving you the opportunity to explore the city
  • Partake in a traditional Tea Ceremony to learn the art of preparing, serving, and drinking tea in a meditative, tranquil ceremony
  • Learn traditional Japanese arts and crafts
